In terms of traditional men's shirts, the oxford cloth button-down is about as old school as they come. And they've remained virtually unchanged in the 117 years since Brooks Brothers introduced them to America. Sure, they've been slimmed down by designers or crafted in fancier fabrications, but it's safe to say there hasn't been much innovation, until now. VoyVoy, a new surf-inspired label, has just released their "summer oxford" which has been built with the modern man in mind. The requisite attributes are accounted for: soft Pima cotton fabric, mother of pearl buttons and a slim waist. They've also tailored the sleeves and cuffs to make them easier to roll up in the heat. But the real trick is under the bottom right hem of the shirt. That overlooked shirt tail—what we all use to clean our dusty sunglasses or smudgy phone screens—has been discreetly stitched with a small microsuede polishing cloth to make the job even easier. Gimmicky? Perhaps. But useful? Absolutely.
