Ranger ankle moc, $79 and Blucher moc, $69 at L.L. Bean Signature
Year Leon Leonwood Bean pattened the split back stay. (pdf)
Today, the much-anticipated L.L. Bean's Signature line launches. Ever since it was announced that the New England brand hired Rogues Gallery founder (and former Bean alum) Alex Carleton to create a collection inspired by the 98-year-old company's archives, a generation of heritage loving gents have waited with bated breath. While there's an entire collection of pleasantly-priced goods, we wanted to call out the first item we're picking up: The handsewn blucher moc, first introduced in 1936, now reinvented in blue suede. Along with their Ranger moc, which debuted in 1955, there's just something about a pair of soft suede shoes in a deep navy that seems incredibly modern and relaxed. And by the Fourth of July, when they're even softer and slightly faded, they'll look even better.
