with Steven Alan

This week, we popped into Steven Alan's Tribeca showroom where he showed us what he had cooking for fall 2009. "It's kind of rough, but still relaxed and comfortable," says Alan of the collection of dark plaids, waxed cottons and washed tweeds. There are also some new ties—;unlined, seven-fold styles with a slight collegiate, 1960s vibe. One of our favorite finds was the new custom detergent that comes in amber moonshine jug compete with a laundry bag cut from shirting material. "People always say they love the way our shirts smell when they get them," laughed Alan. "So we figured why not do a signature detergent?" Here, he takes us through next fall.
