Update: Congratulations to Patrick Aberle, winner of a Ralph Lauren Olympic package with select pieces including the flannel shirt you'll see on snowboarders and an official zip-up sweater.
Tonight, when the American delegation marches into Vancouver's BC Place Stadium for the Opening Ceremonies of the 21st Winter Olympiad, they'll be wearing Ralph Lauren. A fitting choice, considering the designer has celebrated America for more than four decades. And, you may remember, the company outfitted the team at the summer games in Beijing. This time around, the designs—retro puffer jackets, wooly Aran sweaters and Fair Isle caps—were inspired by what athletes wore at the 1932 games in Lake Placid, NY. The US Olympic Committee originally came to Ralph Lauren because they wanted something that merged the technical world of sports with the heritage and tradition of the games. We'd say they nailed it.
