The best way of preventing a face fire is a proper shaving regimen.
Soften skin and open pores with a warm shower.
Use a two-blade razor and shave with the grain. (Dermatologists will tell you, any more than two blades is superfluous and just causes more drag on the skin.)
Don't press. Let the blade do the work. And try to keep it clean.
Rinse with cool water and pat face dry with a clean towel.
The general rule is to shave in the direction of the beard growth. Usually the beard grows downward toward your neck and upwards from the base of your neck.
