Tactical Time

Watches this fall, from what we've seen, will be a bit rougher than the preppy pieces we've been sporting on grosgrain ribbons all summer. The larger faces along with vintage military-issue features like oversized numbers and NATO-style nylon bands make for a timeless style that's ideal for weekend wear (or the office if you're the rolled-sleeves and jeans type). Timex is debuting a larger version of their classic camper watch, with a more substantial 40mm-wide face and Burberry's matte gunmetal timepiece pairs perfectly with the label's soldier-inspired fall collection. If you can't wait, we'd suggest M.H. Bertucci's Titanium A-2. The watch has rugged good looks,  Swiss movement and a surprisingly affordable price tag.

M.H. Bertucci, $140
at REI

Timex, $50
available in August

Burberry, $495 at Burberry stores
