This fall, laces for your everyday leather oxfords could be considered superfluous—at least for some. It started on Patrik Ervell's runway in February, when his spring collection was grounded with laceless shoes by Common Projects. They've since added a style to their fall lineup. Then, the Duckie Brown boys reworked a Florsheim wing tip to slip on rather than tie. Of course, if we're giving credit where credit is due, then we should look back to the fall of 2000, when John Varvatos debuted his now-famous elasticized Converse All-Stars. So it's no surprise he's offering a pair this fall as well. Call it saving lace.
