Approximate number of Converse All-Stars that have been sold to date.
While shopping in Manhattan last week, I popped into the SoHo Converse flagship that opened this fall and was pleasantly surprised. What caught my eye was a collection of leather Chuck Taylors with a considerably slimmer sole. Apparently, they debuted last spring. Dubbed the All Star Slim, the sole is about half an inch thinner than its traditional counterpart and adds a modern edge to a classic silhouette. Personally, I've never been one to splurge on expensive sneakers like Common Projects, but these emulate that "luxe-streetwear" feel of high-end sneakers. They pair well with chinos or jeans (cuffed, of course) and at this price, I won't feel so bad when they inevitably get beat up.
