Build Your Own Belts

You don't need to own a yacht, go to boarding school or even enjoy squash to appreciate the belting from Leather Man Ltd. A New England staple since 1967, Leather Man continues to manufacture their belts in Essex, CT, just north of the Long Island Sound. Their specialty? Made-to-order belts suitable for any summer outing. Choose from D-Ring or tab & buckle closure, select the color of your webbing fabric and pick one of the many available ribbon motifs. Try a classic like the maritime signal flags, green headed mallards and spinnaker sails, or choose something a little more tongue-in-cheek like Indian beading or the skull and crossbones. There are thousands of possible combinations, all for an incredibly affordable price. A leather version of the tab and buckle belt is available for only a few clams more. Country club membership not included.

$28-35, available at Eliza B.

  • Drafted by the British in 1855, international maritime signal flags are used to represent letters of the alphabet or signal specific and special meanings.
