When we first got a glimpse of this watch, back in late June on the arm of some lanky model at the Burberry Prorsum show in Milan, we were filled with hope. Hope that it would be produced. And hope that we could afford it.
Christopher Bailey's collection for the venerable British label was inspired by mossy English gardens and featured twisted takes on classics like unlined jackets and cardigans with a rumpled, vintage feel. That same sensibility is reflected in the new timepieces—the simple black face of an old military watch (Bailey's always had a talent for celebrating Burberry's regimental roots) with the modern addition of an extra long, slim strap that wraps around the wrist three to four times. It's the type of easy, understated piece you can wear everyday and only get better with age. $695 at select Burberry boutiques
